Creative Ways to Use Old Tires in Your Garden
This is a fun way to use old tires in your garden. In fact, you’ll see all sorts of different uses here including planters, stools and hanging on the wall.
The recycled tires are likewise painted to look more functional and fun compared to their original black rubber exterior.
This makes them perfect if you have kids who like to enjoy time in the garden.
Tire swings are one of the oldest ways to use old tires. And, they’re perfect for any garden sine all you need are some attachments that will allow you to toe a sturdy rope to the tire.
In the photo, you’ll see two different options. One is where the tire is hung vertically which means you can sit through the hole.
And, on the right, the tire is hung horizontally. This makes it easier to sit in because of the hole in the middle. Either way, they’re both fun way to repurpose old tires in your yard.

Vertical Flower Garden Using Tires
Here’s an amazing look that’s very well executed. And, with old tires, execution is everything.
The reason is that they are large and crude looking. So, it is important to blend them into the backyard and garden.
To do so, painting them light or pastel colors often works since it softens their look.
That said, this is an awesome way to use tires, which work as both functional (as planters) and decorative in this case.
Tire Lounge Chairs
This is my all-time favorite way to reuse old tires in the garden. These lounge chairs are perfect if because they look so adorable and well-made.
In fact, if you don’t look closely, you may not even notice that they’re made from old tires.
The lovely bright orange color gives them an fun feel while the cushions and pillow are what make these lounge tire chairs spectacular to look at.
Hanging Tire Basket
Tying a thick piece of rope through the tire’s doughnut hole to hold it up is one way to make your own hanging tire planter.
In this case, the tire is used much like a basket where the plants overflow out.
It also helps here if you have different sized tires to create contrast. You can also choose to see which size or type works best with the surroundings.
Colorful Tire Planter
Here’s one of the loveliest tire garden designs. It makes use of 7 different tires.
Size are placed flat on the ground beside one another in the form of a hexagon. Then, the final tire is placed on top of them.
Finally each of the tires are used as planters, maximizing the space in their holes to do so.
Hanging Tire Planters
This is one reason why I mentioned that how to “soften” the look of the tire makes all the difference in the world.
In this case, the while paint makes it look more like any garden furniture that a large tubber tire that’s out of place in the garden.
The thing strings that hold each tire up on its 3 sides also make it look more elegant compared to using a thick piece of rope.
As such, you can adjust the look of the tire to make it more elegant looking or rustic depending on what you use with it.

The first time I saw this brought a smile to my face.
I never imagined that you could create something so lovely from old tires. But, these trees are amazing fun to look at.

Once again It does take some fabricating to use parts of the tire to form this awesome final shape.
Tire Garden Border
This is one creative way to create a border around your lawn or garden. The tires are slightly cut open to increase the size of the hole.
And, in them, have a lot of space to grow plants as edging.
Like all the other ideas in our list, painting the tire is a must.
Their round shape makes tires perfect for kids to play with sine they don’t have any edges where kids can get bruised from.
Similarly, it doesn’t have any sharp points which prevents injuries.
This makes it something you can use in a kiddie playground.

Teacup Tire Pot

If you have the time to fabricate the tires into something fun and whimsy for your garden, this teacup planter is a great idea.
The size of the two tires placed over one another gives you a lot of space for growing plants. And, you can let the kids paint the exterior the way they want.
Stairs from Old Tires
This is one of the most functional ways to use old tires. In this case, the tires are not painted at all to keep their rugged look. But, depending on where you place them, you may want to paint them the same or different colors.
In any case, the tire stairs make use of a few tires. Do get the number you need to cover the incline or slope you want to place the tires in.
And, filling the middles with soil to even out the to surface of the tire will make them safe to step on.
