DIY tire planter flower pot ideas are perfect for reusing and repurposing old tires that nobody needs any more.
Instead of trading them in, you can use them as planers or garden décor. For the most part, you’ll likely need to paint them as well to make them fit in with the color scheme of your garden.
Here are some amazing ways to use old tires as planters for flowers and plants.

Minions
Who doesn’t love the minions?
This is a definite crowd pleaser. And, all you need to do is pile up a few tires and pain them blue and yellow.
Of course, don’t forget the eyes and mouth!
On top, you can create a mini platform where you can place a planter.
DIY Tire Wreath
For this DIY tire planter, you’ll want to use a smaller and lighter wheel diameter.
On that’s too big will be too cumbersome for the root, wall or fence to hold. Plus, the larger and heavier it is, the more lifting you need to do.
Once you have the tire planter in place, you can choose a beautifully colored vining plant to grow out of it.
It is important that the plant’s stems will trail downward.

Clock Tires Planter
Got 5 old timers you don’t need anymore? Here’s an amazing DIY project with tires you can create.
You will need a large tractor tire for the middle of the clock. That way, it is considerably bigger than the other regular sized tires that make up the base and bells on the top.
Finally, paint in the numbers and hands.
DIY Triple Tire Flower Bed
Here’s a lovely DIY tire planter idea that’s also functional.
You’ll need 3 tires and arrange them by placing one on top of the gap between the two.
For added effect, paint the tires so they look wonderful. Three big black rubber tires will be out of place in your garden. Plus, it will mess up the entire color scheme.
Once you have the tires in place, you can add planters on top of each. Make sure to place some kind of flat surface inside to keep the planters up. You don’t want the flowers to sink down such that only a small part of the blooms are seem.
Little Miss Piggy
For something a little bit more fun, why not color the tires pink and add a cut piggy on top.
The takes a bit more work than just piling up the tires one over another. You’ll need to fabricate one of them to create a cute piggy face complete with ears.
Then paint in the eyes and add a snout to make it complete.
Flower Planter with Stand
This is another tire flower planter. But this time, it is above the ground.
You can create this DIY project by adding 4 legs to the bottom. Any set of legs from an old chair will do.
But, make sure they’re strong enough to hold the weight of the tire and the planter, which can get heavy after you add the soil.
DIY Vertical Tire Flower Planter
If you’re short on space but still want to get the most effect, why not stack the tires up like a vertical garden.
This is a wonderful idea that you can create with 2 or 3 tires per stand. You will need to weld things together. And, it is important that the mid post can bear the brunt of the tires and planters.
Hanging Gnome Tire Planter
For a bit of fun and cuteness, add a garden gnome.
This hanging tire planter is beautiful to look at because of its bright colors. The space in the middle of the tire gives you a lot of room to grow the plants.
And, the gnome completes the final touch.
Flower Well
Here’s a tire flower well that you can make and design however way you want it to look.
You’ll have the freedom to paint it whatever color you want. And add a cover for shade to protect the plants from the afternoon sun.
Colorful Decorative Tire Planters
This is one of my favorites. It’s got color, its fun and lovely to look at.
I particularly love the extra effect of cutting up the top into petal-like sections and opening them outwards.
This extra touch is what sets it apart. Doing so also gives you a lot more space inside the tire for your plants.
DIY Hanging Basket
This is another one of the my top picks.
It’s not every day that you see a cut hanging basket that’s made or repurposed tire.
Again, you’ll need to do some fabrication on the tire. This time, the goal is to close up the bottom as well as open up the top.
You also want to reduce the size or use a smaller tire. The less weight the better since it will be hanging.
Wall Planters
This is a lovely look if you have a plain high fence or wall in your garden that needs a little bit of color.
You can add one, two or three tires depending on the design you’re looking.
And, besides cleaning out the tires, you don’t need to do a lit to it.
Hanging it and making sure the attachment or nail is strong enough it key. Also, you only want to place this against cement or some kind or strong vertical surface, since the tire is heavy.
Tire Swing Flower Planter
Here’s another take on the popular tire swing. By painting it a lovely color and growing flowers of contrasting colors in it, you’ll be able to spruce up an old tire swing that the kids don’t use anymore.
Wall of Tires
This is another version of the tire wall.
This time, you have an entire section composed of 7 tires attached to the wall. Plus, a few 3-tire high planters on the ground as well.
You can imagine that the family that created this had a lot of spare tires sitting around in storage.
