These DIY garden ideas and decorations from wood branches, twigs and sticks give your backyard a unique and beautiful look that no one else has.
What’s great about it is that many of these projects can be created in a weekend. The larger ones may take a little longer. But, they do have a more instant and lasting effect once you’re done.
Here are some of my favorite wooden branch garden ideas for decorations you can create yourself.
DIY Garden Ideas & Decorations from Wood Branches, Twigs and Sticks
Tree Limb Fencing
This is an amazingly beautiful rustic country fence that’s made out of the branches that have been crisscrossed together.
If you have quite a few thick branches you can create this wonderful garden fence idea. It is important to find long branches with the same thickness to produce the same effect in the photo.
Rustic Branch Pergola
Another lovely touch you can add to your yard or garden is this DIY wooden branch pergola.
Most pergolas as created by using large pieces of fabricated wood. They also come with carvings and are designed to curve at different points.
This garden décor gives you something unique.

Growing Boxes
Growing boxes are great to help some vegetables grow. it also keeps them away from other plants.
Of course, there’s not denying their lovely looks.
That said, these take a lot of work. Placing them together in a very uniform manner and tying them up takes a bit of time.
However, once they are done, they are so rewarding to look at.
Standing Chopped Wood Border
Of all the lovely garden designs and decorations made from wood branches and logs, this is probably of the more refined ones in the list.
Most of the others use the twigs and sticks as they are.
That said. I love the way this looks as you line up all the logs vertically into a circle. And, the best part is, you can easily pick out these logs or use a chainsaw to cut them up yourself.
Privacy Fence
You can use this wonderful DIY wooden branch ideas as a privacy fence or a divider for certain sections of your backyard.
I love its amazing design because it has so many details. From the small wooden platforms to the beautiful frame. And, finally how the branches are arranges to create the blinds.
Needless to say, this needs a bit of planning and making sure you have enough material to complete everything.
Full-Sized Swinging Garden Gate
This is another lovely wooden branch garden idea I love. It is much bigger and will require at least a couple of people to set up.
You will also need larger branches as the gate needs to be sturdy enough to withstand the elements. You also don’t want it to fall over in case someone pushes against it.
Tree Stump Planter
If you have a lager log, you can create a beautiful planter with it.
All you need to do is even out the top and bottoms to make sure that it will stand without toppling over. Then, hollow out part of the middle so that there’s space to place soil and grow flowers.
This will make for a great garden décor or around the patio.
Wooden Birdcage
This hanging birdcage is bigger and more robust that most wooden bird cages. And, it will take a bit more work to make. But, it definitely offers a different look that other yards and gardens don’t have.
Obelisk Trellis
Obelisk trellis are often used to help some vegetables to grow. And, you can easily create this garden feature with a few long sturdy branches places against each other so the top come together.
You do need to add horizontal supports to keep the entire structure stable since you don’t want it to easily topple over.
Raised Garden Bed
Simply yet amazing to look at. He twigs and small branches can easily be overlooked here because of where they are positioned.
But, once someone takes a closer look, they’ll instantly notice its beauty.
This is another wood branch and twig garden decoration that you can create in a weekend. The biggest task is rounding up enough twigs to full all the sides of the bed.
Once you’ve collected enough you can line them up vertically and use plywood on top and bottom to keep them together.
Hanging “Chimes”
These branches are hung down from a larger branch to make them look like windchimes. This is one of my favorite DIY wooden decorations for the garden because not only can you create them yourself, it is not that hard to do as well.
It does need a lot of checking and looking from afar to make sure you have the exact look you want. But, from there, it is all about hanging the branches down so that they are distanced from one another in a lovely way.
Twig Lattice Support
This twig lattice support is perfect if you have climbers. They give them something to cling onto to satisfy their climbing habit.
I addition to being functional, you can design the twigs however way you want. Here, the lattice resembles a ladder. But, it can easily take the shape and form of something just a lovely depending on the surface you place it against.
Vegetable Garden Baskets
Vegetable garden baskets help some plants grow upright so they can produce the best harvest. In this case, the baskets are used for rhubarb.
That said, if you know how to weave these beautiful baskets from wooden twigs, sticks and branches, they’re likewise beautiful to have in the garden. And, can be used for many different things.
