Calathea Plants

The Calathea is a genus that belongs to the Marantaceae family. It is composed of about 200 species of flowering plants.

Note that the genus Calathea has been a assigned a new name, Goeppertia. As such, you’ll see many Calathea varieties re-labeled by shops as Goeppertia.

That said, most gardeners and growers still use the term Calathea to refer to these plants.

Although, it may be a matter of time before everyone starts adapting to its new name.

Calatheas are popular because of their beautiful looks. For the most part, these plants are known best for their decorative leaves. But some do produce colorful blooms as well.
