Gorgeous Balcony Lighting Ideas
Mason Jar Chandelier
This is one of my favorite balcony garden ideas because it’s a simple DIY project anyone can do. Better yet, you can customize the size, shape and style of the chandelier to fit the look you’re going for.
In this case, the frame takes a round shape with 8 mason jar lights hanging from hanging from it. Each mason jar is filled the mini string lights to produce the lovely lighting effects.
You also have a smaller inner ring frame that holes smaller jars which are kept lower than the larger mason jars on top.
Together they give you enough lighting at night while being an amazing décor piece as well.
Romantic Lighting
This is another lovely balcony lighting ideas that’s amazing to look at after the sun goes down. It uses a combination of different lighting apparatus including string lights and large Christmas stars. You also have candles which add to the romance.

Hanging Candles
This is an elegant and beautiful lighting combination that uses candles and overhead light bulbs.
The bulbs hang from the overhead beams in individual fashion. And, for added effect, you have small round see-through containers that contain candles that are hung lower.
Wall Waterfall Lighting
This light waterfall is gorgeous at night when the small bulbs shine. They are string lights that drape down vertically in linear fashion creating columns of small lights.
While they may not be stunning on their own, they’re absolutely magnificent as a group.
Lights All Around
If you don’t think that wall lighting is enough, why not extend the string lights up and overhead. This balcony lighting idea works best for high ceilings so you don’t feel cramped. It likewise produces a more impressive view with no roof overhead.
Unlike the previous design, this one spaces out the lights a big farther away from one another.
Overhead Lights
Here, the lights are positioned on top in the form of string lights. You’ll often see this kind of string bulb lighting in fairs and outdoor night events because it is one of the most effective ways of adding lighting to open spaces.
But, it works just as well in your balcony. You can likewise use it on your deck or patio as well.
All you need are high pots and hooks to hang the lights to. From there, attached the bulbs so that they go at intervals on a string. You can likewise buy these kinds of lights already made to make things easier.
Overhead Starry Night
This is one of my favorite balcony lighting ideas because it reminds you of the night sky. The string lights is also installed so that the strings go around in a somewhat random and messy-looking pattern.
This is intention in order to bring out a more rustic look.
The best part about this beautiful lighting idea is you get to sit there with your special someone and enjoy some quality time.
Shadow Lights
One of the best things about lights is you can create your own effects by placing them at the right angles. Such is the case with this wall, where it gives you the illusion of a crisscross wall design.
But, in reality, it is just the shadows of the lights that produce the effect.
String Bulbs with DIY Housing
I love this wonderful string light build look because it is simple. And, it uses an old DIY trick to make the lights shine brighter.
By covering the bulbs with cylindrical glass housing, you’re able to let the light reflect against the surface so its brightness does not spread out as much.
This makes the lights brighter as well without blocking out any of its illumination.
Dangling Chandelier Lights
If you want something spectacular, this is it. The dangling mini-lights hanging together to form a magnificent chandelier is something to look at.
It reminds you of 5-star hotel ballrooms with their showy light pieces overhead.
This is a great way to keep the balcony well-lit at night especially if you like having guests over.
String Lights for a Small Balcony
This is an amazing way to light up a small balcony. I love that it uses different kinds and size of bulbs for string lights.
The lighting inside the window is also genius as it produces an amazing effect from the outside.
In addition to that there are smaller lights the hang down from the corner of the room just to supplement the other lights.
Of course, it is hard to miss the big round lights that are draped on the outer wall.
Zigzag String Lights Overhead
For higher balconies, I love this design. It features string bulbs from above lined up in zig zag fashion.
This lets you use fewer light bulbs to cover the entire space. And, it also keeps the light level more manageable, so things don’t get overly bright or hot.
String Light Bulbs and Candles
In case you prefer a well-lit balcony, then this is something you can do. Most of the lighting is provided by the strong overhead string light bulbs. You do want to keep them a few feet overhead because they can get hot.
To add some extra illumination, there are many smaller candles as well strategically spread out across this small space.
