14 Genius DIY Repurposed Garden Tools Ideas

DIY repurposed garden tools ideas are a wonderful way of reusing old yard accessories that would otherwise end up in the garbage dump.

In most cases, they turn out to be display or decorative items. But, many of these ideas are functional as well.

Here are some of my favorite ways to reuse old garden tools.

Shovel Wreath Garden Decor

This lovely garden art décor is composed of a repurposed shovel that’s adorned with a lovely flower wreath.

All you need to do is hang the shovel by its handle against any wall. Or, as done in the photo, bolt the shovel into the wall.

This is a unique way to use old gardening tools to decorate your garden.

Spade Pot Holders

If you happen to have a few old shovels, you can remove their spades from the handle and attach them to a pole. This gives you a few DIY “shelves” or stands where you can place small pots.

This is among my favorites in this list of diy repurposed garden tools ideas because its serves a funcition. It’s also super creative.

Garden Hose Flowers

One of the prettiest things you can do is to repurpose old garden hoses and bend them around to form lovely colorful flowers.

You can do a lot with these garden hose flowers. Among them is stick them against the wall. You can also place them on the ground and create your own DIY garden art.

For the best effects, you want to use different hose colors and sizes. This creates a wide variety of styes and designs

Bird Cage Shovels

This is another cool DIY art decoration idea from repurposed garden shovels. This time, you add birdhouses on top of the shovels.

To make the attachment more seamless, you can remove the handles of the shovels and use the flat surface to mount the birdcage.

Rake Wall Art

Got a few different kinds of old rusty rakes sitting around in the storage shed? Here’s one way to clear the space and make good use of the rake again.

You do want to be careful with this one though because of the edges of the rake. While they’re blunted by this point the individual points can still hurt you or your kids. Plus, these ends are often rusted.

Shovel Garden Gate

These repurposes garden tools used here, namely pick, shovel and rake, are more accessories than necessities. By that I mean you don’t really need to use them in placement for the metal or wooden supports.

But, in doing so, you can create a touch of uniqueness and some rustic quality.

This one takes a bit of work and balancing to do. After all, the 3 different garden tools come in different shapes and weights. And, you want the gate to be sturdy and well-balanced.

Hose Fence

I love this amazingly creative DIY creation!

It’s a bit intricate in that you need to do a lot of criss-crossing around the poles. And, there’s also quite a bit of coordination to keep the hose lines from overlapping over one another.

But, the end product speaks for itself.

You can use different hoses to fill in various gaps as the varying colors add more character to it as well.

Spade Bird Feeders

Here’s another useful way to reuse old shovels. But, you’ll only need the spade for this tis one.

Depending on how far out you’ll like them to protrude, you can bend the ends of the spade (like in the photo) or just allow it to extend outwards.

Attaching them to a tree is a great way to save on space. The size of the spade will also allow you to put as much or little bird feed there.

Shovel Desk

This will definitely get some curious looks when guests first see it. But, you got to admit it’s quite creative.

Utterly simple yet functional, this is a great way to repurpose old items that are bound for the trash into something that’s useful again.

Sign from and Old Saw

Here’s something you can do if you want to express yourself. Using an old saw and adding your own signage or design on the blade is an amazing way to add lots of character to any spot in your yard or garden.

I do recommend blunting out the edges and teeth so no one will every accidentally get cut.

Shovel Wall Décor that Doubles as Pot Holder

If you have old mini shovels, forks or rakes lying around, you can use this adorable style to make pot holders out of them.

Do note that they add a bit more weight to the pot which already contain soil. So, bolting them or using a strong attachment is highly recommended as the pot will break if is falls off.

Repurposed Garden Hose Rug

There’s no way that you can’t say this is not a wonderful idea. It does take quit a bit of work since you’ll need to cut up the hose to many pieces.

The actual hose is not designed to bend this way. So, the only way it so slit the into bits and connect them to one another.

Needless to say, this is more like a puzzle that you want to work on part by part.

Shovel Bird Feeder

Here’s a cute and simple bird house or bird feeder you can create in just a few minutes. All it takes it removing the handle of the shovel. Then attaching a small bird house on top.

Garden Tool Planters

A combination of different old yard accessories, this is the last of our DIY repurposed garden tools ideas. It is versatile in that you can arrange them any way you can.

And, you can use different tools depending on while ones you don’t need anymore.
